Baños de Agua santa is located in the province of Tungurahua only 180 km from Quito and 35 km from Ambato.

Baños de Agua Santa is an extremely touristic Andean town, both popular with international and Ecuadorian tourists.
Baños de Agua Santa is named after the hot springs located around the city which have a reputation of having healing properties due to their content of various minerals.
Baños is a mixed bag. The setting is amazing. From town you can see waterfalls, hike through lush forests, rest your bones in steaming thermal springs, hike down impossibly steep gorges, bike or boat all the way to the Amazon Basin, and marvel at the occasional eruption of nearby Volcán Tungurahua. But the town itself, with its drab architecture, garish tour operators and overcrowded backpacker-ghetto feel, leaves a lot to be desired. This said, this is the central highlands’ premiere destination for mountain-biking, hiking, rafting and partying, and while many folks will have their reservations about the town’s look and feel, almost everybody leaves with a big smile on their face and great stories from their adventures.
